Archon 30 Artist Alley
This
contract sets forth the rules and terms for the Artist Alley at Archon 30,
October 5-8, 2006. By purchasing tables in the Archon 30 Artist Alley, you (the
Artist) agree to abide by these rules and terms.
Since
this is the first year we are trying an Artist's Alley, we are starting small.
We hope to expand this feature in the future. Comments and suggestions are
encouraged, directed to the Artist Alley Coordinator.
Location:
The
Artist Alley will be located outside of the art show in the
Tables and Rates:
The Artist Alley will consist of twelve 6'x30" tables. Archon reserves the right to change the number of tables. To guarantee a table in the Artist Alley, Artists need to reserve a table space in their name and pre-register for the convention. The Artist may configure their table as they like so long as it does not interfere with others or violate fire codes.
Table space will be assigned on a first-paid, first-served basis. Rates for Artist Alley are $30 per table. Limit two tables per artist/group. Artists who wish to share tables or be at adjacent tables should contact the Artist Alley Coordinator.
If you require electricity: electricity will be billed separately at the convention center's quoted rates; 2005 rates were $35 for up to 500 watt service, $45 for 501-1000 watt service, $55 for 1001-1500 watt service, and $65 for 1501-2000 watt service if ordered in advance, or $50, $60, $70, and $80 if ordered at the convention.
Registration for an Artist
Alley table does not include a membership in the convention, or admission to
it. Artists without a convention badge will not be allowed into the Artist
Alley.
Reserving a Table:
First contact
the Artist Alley Coordinator (artistalley@archonstl.org) to verify tables are available. Include your name, studio
(or group), number of Artists in your group, and the number of table spaces you
would like to reserve. The coordinator will review your request and let you
know by email if your reservation request is approved. Once your request is
approved, mail the signed Artist Alley Contract (see below) with payment (made
out to Archon) to:
Archon 30
ATTN: Artist
Alley
Payments before the convention can be by credit card, check or
money order. If you mail in your
payments, you can use the usual credit cards - Mastercard,
Visa, Diner's Club, and American Express. The Artist
Alley Coordinator will hold your reservation for fifteen days. If payment is
not made within fifteen days, the tables will be made available to others. Any
bounced checks will be subject to a $20 processing fee.
Once
pre-registration is over, all Artists who reserved tables will be checked to
see if they have pre-registered. Those who have not will forfeit their tables.
Once all
tables are sold out, the Coordinator will maintain a waiting list of artists.
Should a table become available, due to Artists forfeiture or no-shows at the
con, a reasonable effort to contact those on the list will be made. The table
will be offered to the artist for the price and conditions of this contract.
Should a table become available during the operation of the convention (5PM on Thursday, Oct. 5 until Noon on Sunday, Oct. 8,
2006) the table will be offered at half-price ($15) and
conditions of this contract.
Canceling a Table:
Only the
listed point of contact on the Artist Alley Contract can cancel the table. To
cancel your table, send an email to the Artist Alley Coordinator artistalley@archonstl.org.
You may also send a cancellation request to the mailing address listed above.
Table cancellations received after September 15, 2006 will not be refunded.
Hours of Operation:
Artists may occupy their
tables starting at 5PM on Thursday, Oct. 5 until Noon
on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006. Other than that, there are no set hours. The tables
are in an open area, so the Artists can occupy them as long as they want
in-between opening and closing. Artists must remove all their material from the
Artist Alley by Noon Sunday. Anything left behind will be thrown out or become
the property of Archon. Archon reserves the right to change the hours of
operation.
Check-In:
Artists must check in with
the Artist Alley Coordinator prior to occupying their tables in the Artist
Alley. The Coordinator may be found/contacted at the
Art Show. All tables will be assigned and labeled. Artists may swap tables only
with the approval of the Artist Alley Coordinator. Artists who fail to check in
by 8PM Thursday of the convention will forfeit their
tables, unless they have made prior arrangements for a later check-in with the
Artist Alley Coordinator. Forfeited tables will not be refunded.
Appropriate Sales:
Artists
may only sell their own work in the Artist Alley. Artists will not sell
commercial merchandise at their table, unless it is their own work. The Artist Alley is for the artist only. The Artist
may not sell anything other than art originally created by themselves in one
form or another. The Artist may not re-sell materials that can be bought in a
store. Judgment of this is left to the discretion of the Artist Alley
Coordinator and the Con Chairs.
Artists will check IDs of
persons to ensure they are 18 years or older before allowing them to purchase
or buy adult material. Artists will ensure that any such works are kept in
separate folders from other work. The acceptability of displays of adult
material is at the sole discretion of the Artist Alley Coordinator; failure to
comply with warnings will result in removal from Artist Alley and forfeiture of
all fees.
Fan art will be permitted
only if it is of an original concept design by the artist and not a copy of an
existing design. It should also be of limited production and not mass-produced.
If there are any questions, ask the Artist Ally Coordinator. Acceptability of Fan Art is left to the discretion of the
Artist Alley Coordinator and the Con Chairs.
Art Show:
Each table purchased in
the Artist Alley entitles the Artist to hang one item in the art show without
paying a hanging fee or commission on the sale. Art to be displayed under this
entitlement must be presented to the Art Show staff by 10AM
Saturday of the convention. This art must be a unique piece.
Promotional Rights:
Artists grant Archon the
right to list Artist's name in our advertising and on our website and link to
the Artist's website. Archon grants the same reciprocal right to the Artist.
Security:
Artists are responsible
for securing their own works and material when not present at their tables.
Archon is not responsible for the loss or damage to the material and works of
Artists.
Indemnification:
Artists indemnify and
agree to hold Archon and any members, officers, directors, staff and/or
employees thereof blameless for any and all damages caused to the Artist or
his/her property, agents, representatives, employees, or consultants.
Artists indemnify and
agree to hold Archon and any members, officers, directors, staff and/or
employees thereof blameless in case of theft of Artist property.
Severability:
Should any provision of
this document be rendered or declared invalid by reason of any existing or
subsequently enacted legislation or by any decree by a court of competent
jurisdiction, such invalidation of such part or portion of this document shall
not invalidate the remaining portions, and they shall remain in full force and
effect.
Contacts:
Any
questions can be directed to the Artist Alley Coordinator at artistalley@archonstl.org or to artistalley@artczar.org.
